by Dawson Lane Some of the top Under 26 players not only in the US; but in the world of Court Tennis were in Tuxedo Park June 27th – 29th to compete in the U26 Championships. Local Tuxedo players included Hazel Christensen, Johnny Dawson, Kurt Mueller, Paul Nieuwerburgh & Theo Yannuzzi who have all been a part of the robust junior program coming out of Tuxedo for years.  All (4) players acquitted themselves quite well even though this was a large step up in competition along with older competitions. 2025 USCTA Annual Meeting

The USCTA held its annual meeting via Zoom on Saturday, June 21st. Dacre Stoker, President, welcomed the 19 participants, then briefly reviewed the year’s highlights. He thanked clubs, their leaders and professionals for their efforts in hosting events and soliciting USCTA membership, highlighting Newport’s recent hosting of the Ladies World Championship, the US Pro Singles for the Schochet Cup, and the upcoming Men’s Singles World Championship in September. He thanked the Racquet Club of Philadelphia, the Chicago Racquet Club and the Aiken Tennis Club for hosting World Championships Eliminator matches. 2025 U.S. Mixed Doubles

by Dawson Lane Eight teams convened at The Tuxedo Club June 13th – 15th to compete in the 20-25 USCTA Mixed Doubles National Championships. Tournament organizer Tim Chisholm decided to alter the ‘traditional’ format slightly to get as much competitive play as possible for all the entrants. The top (3) teams with team HCPs under 30 were all placed into the semi-finals of the main draw, with the other (5) teams competing in a round robin competition to determine the 4th semi-finalist of the main draw. It lasts thirty-nine hours, from the first minutes of the 20th after midnight in Sydney/Melbourne/Hobart/Ballarat to the last minutes of the 20th near midnight in Chicago/Sand Valley.  Once again all fifty real tennis courts around the world are going to celebrate ITD in grand fashion for much if not all of the thirty-nine hours. Although the draw was small, it provided quality competition. The weekend started with fun round-robin doubles, allowingout-of-towners to get to know the court and the tambour. The tournament kicked off on Saturday with Victoria Scott taking on Westwood local Tess Browne. Victoria came out strong with her amazing backhand return of serve, moving Tess around and creating great chases. 2025 National League

Early April in New York witnessed another National League Super Event, marking the third such gathering in as many years. This year, the event featured four teams, each comprising four players. Over three nights, twelve thrilling matches were played, complemented by a robust Pro-Am and two informative seminars hosted by the Preservation Foundation. The event attracted nearly all U.S.-based professionals, along with three of the country’s top amateurs. The gathering of talent was truly impressive, with the top players from both the professional and amateur circuits gracing the event. Players were selected through a draft conducted during the U.S. Open by the event’s captains: John Lumley, SteveVirgona, Nick Howell, and Camden Riviere, who unfortunately had to withdraw due to injury.
