It is great to see the enthusiasm which has built around this tournament, so much so that next year we will be running two summer events to give more players a chance to scratch their Newport itch. Ave Atque Vale Ivan Ronaldson 1974 – 2025 The world court tennis community was shocked at the unexpected death in mid-August of Ivan Ronaldson, 51, Head Court Tennis Professional at Westwood Country Club. He leaves a wife, Christy, two young children, Liliana (11) and Bruce (8), his parents, Lesley and Chris, and two brothers, Ben and Luke. A message from Vern Peterson-Cassin: The Celebration of Life for Ivan Ronaldson will be held from 12 to 3 p.m. on August 31st at the Racquet Center at Westwood Country Club. As Ivan would have wanted, all are welcome. Guests should dress as they like, including in the Hawaiian shirts he loved. Many people have asked how they can help after Ivan Ronaldson’s sudden loss. 2025 Van Alen & Clothier Cups Seacourt Tennis Club, Hayling Island, UK The United States sent a young, enthusiastic and talented group of players to the United Kingdom for the 2025 Van Alen & Clothier Cup competitions. The US team of Ben Dickinson, Spencer Yager, Tarquin Sotir & Dawson Chisholm all lacked experience playing international competitive real tennis and on paper were heavy underdogs versus the British & Australian teams, which were comprised of some of the top amateurs in the game.
