The Racquet and Tennis Club had the pleasure of once again hosting the Below Zero in mid-June. This year’s event featured one of the strongest fields in its 10-year history, bringing together many of the country’s best young players. America’s newest professional, Ben Dickinson, joined a talented field that included several seasoned favorites. New faces Chase Motz, Jack Turchetta, Josh Smith, and Erik Barker brought fresh energy to the event. In its most recent form the Pineapple Cup is the relaxed and low-key cousin of the Pell Cup, giving players an opportunity to enjoy competitive tennis in Newport at both ends of the summer. by Josh Smith US Women’s National Championship Report  On the first weekend in May, with spring in full bloom in Newport, the National Tennis Club hosted the US Women’s National Championship. 10 players were in action from five different clubs; Aiken, Boston, NTC, Philadelphia and Westwood.  In the Singles Championship, the top seeds would ultimately play in the final, but would have different roads to the championship match. Racquet & Tennis Club – April 17-19, 2026 On Friday April 17th, [23] players from [4] clubs arrived in Midtown Manhattan to compete for the prestigious Etchebaster Trophy which has been contested annually since 1964. by Steve Hufford Twenty senior US players traveled to Australia in late March to compete in the 2026 World Masters team and individual championships.  Our teams competed very well in spite of most being short-sided, which carries a distinct disadvantage according to the World Masters rules, which stipulate that the highest handicap player has to play multiple times.  Our four teams played at three different Australian courts – Hobart (50s), Ballarat (60s), and Sydney (70s & 80s).  The individual competitions afterwards were all held in Melbourne. Revived by Kathy Pugh, the event brought together Team Boston vs. Team Newport for a day of spirited competition, camaraderie, and celebration of the game.
