Camden Riviere defeated Rob Fahey 5-6, 6-2, 6-1, 6-3 to win his eighth straight U.S. Pro Singles playing for the Schochet Cup title.  Barney Tanfield defeated Darren Long 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 to win the U.S. Pro Singles Satellite title.  Amy Wintersteen/CJ White won the Pro/Am title 6-5 over Carey/J. The 2017 USCTA Mixed Doubles had a small, but enthusiastic group of six teams representing 5 U.S. based clubs: The Tuxedo Club Prince’s Court National Tennis Club Boston Tennis & Racquet Club New York Racquet & Tennis Club Quarter-Finals The 1st quarter-final match was Francine Maitland & Dan Laukitis play smart & efficiently in a routine 6/0 6/2 victory over Jeanne Heffernan & Charles deCasteja. Fahey Defends Her World Championship

Claire Fahey successfully defended her World Championship over her sister Sarah Vigrass 6-0, 6-0. Claire then teamed up with Sarah to win the Ladies World Championship doubles title over Saskia Bollerman and Amanda Avedissian 6-3, 6-0. by Lex Miron The third annual Spring Invitational and Pro-Am was hosted by the Racquet & Tennis Club May 4th-7th.  Twenty players competed, of which twelve were professionals and eight were amateurs. The top four seeds were Josh Dodgson (Tuxedo), Barney Tanfield (New York), Adrian Kemp (New York) and Leon Smart (Boston).  Other top professionals included James Asher (Philadelphia), Neil Smith (New York), Rob Whitehouse (Philadelphia), Chris Aley (Washington), John Woods-Casey (Melbourne), Manek Mathur (New York) and Eric Bedell (New York). By Mit Carothers, Tennis Chair Ten teams entered the 2017 Northrop Knox Tournament at the Aiken Tennis Club. Play began on Thursday April 13 with the finals on Easter Sunday April 16th. The entrants included the defending champions, previous winners and a mix of local and out of town players anxious to hoist the trophy. In addition to the doubles tournament, this year’s version also contained a singles competition. Meringoff wins 2017 U.S. Amateur Singles

U.S. Amateur Singles Final – Boston – April 23, 2017 By Jeffrey Horine Unseeded Todd Meringoff ousted the second, third and fourth seeded players en route to the United States Amateur singles title, held at Boston’s Tennis & Racquet Club from April 21-23.  Meringoff defeated Jeremy Wintersteen in the final 6/1, 4/6, 6/4, 6/1. by Ryan Carey The Cherry Blossom Doubles ’17 was held at Prince’s Court from April 6th-9th.   This year’s theme was a “game show” theme inspired by the cherry blossom-esque flowers that decorate the set of The Price Is Right.
