This September, two young Americans—Kurt Mueller of Tuxedo Park and Jonah Serotta of Philadelphia—stepped onto that court for the British U15 and U19 Doubles Championships, facing not only unfamiliar walls and galleries, but also the fiercest junior competition anywhere. 2025 Court Tennis Academy (CTA) – Supported by the USCTPF The Tuxedo Club After more than a decade, the Junior Court Tennis Academy continues to be a popular week among junior court tennis players here in the US and occasionally among overseas juniors. 2025 Van Alen & Clothier Cups Seacourt Tennis Club, Hayling Island, UK The United States sent a young, enthusiastic and talented group of players to the United Kingdom for the 2025 Van Alen & Clothier Cup competitions.  The US team of Ben Dickinson, Spencer Yager, Tarquin Sotir & Dawson Chisholm all lacked experience playing international competitive real tennis and on paper were heavy underdogs versus the British & Australian teams, which were comprised of some of the top amateurs in the game. by Dawson Lane Some of the top Under 26 players not only in the US; but in the world of Court Tennis were in Tuxedo Park June 27th – 29th to compete in the U26 Championships. Local Tuxedo players included Hazel Christensen, Johnny Dawson, Kurt Mueller, Paul Nieuwerburgh & Theo Yannuzzi who have all been a part of the robust junior program coming out of Tuxedo for years.  All (4) players acquitted themselves quite well even though this was a large step up in competition along with older competitions. by Dawson Lane 2025 USCTA/USCTPF Junior HCP Singles and Family HCP Doubles The Tuxedo Club January 18th – 20th By Dawson Lane The Tuxedo Club hosted these two events January 18th – 20th and by all accounts was a successful weekend of court tennis. Forty-nine matches were played across the holiday weekend, with 11 Juniors playing in the singles and 15 teams in the Family Doubles. by Ivan Ronladson Following the Junior Academy at the end of July, Westwood hosted the USCTA U11s, U13s, and U15s. In the U11s, Magnus Mitby (Haven Pell’s grandson) won the final 8-0 against Liliana Ronaldson. With a handicap of 65 and only ten years old, Magnus is almost certainly the World #1 in his age group. The U13s and U15s were dominated by Kurt Mueller from Tuxedo. Kurt almost stumbled against Jack Morrison in the U15 semi-final, winning an 8-7, 40 all-match point nail-biter. by Henry Henman At the end of July, the tenth Annual National Court Tennis Junior Academy, funded by the USCTPF Player Development Fund, occurred at Westwood Country Club. The week was an excellent opportunity for the juniors to learn and improve technique, strategy, and match play while they could also meet new friends and faces with a similar passion for court tennis.
