The top two players, Ben Hudson from Boston and Dylan Patterson from New York made it to the last match of this year’s Greevy Cup without dropping a set to the DC locals.
Dylan took the first set of the final 6-3 dominating from the service end with a wide variety of serves that seemed to limit Ben’s returns and frustrate him into a number of unforced errors. At four all in the second set there weren’t many unbitten fingernails left in the dedans. Seven deuces later Hudson hit the base of the Tambour two shots in a row and rode the wave to the set 6-4. Ben had hit his stride in the final set and there wasn’t much Dylan could do against the barrage of near-perfect volleys and laser forcing. Final score Hudson vs Patterson 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.
