An exciting weekend commenced with a last minute change of venue due to the Nor’easter coming through Jersey and New England, so from Lakewood to Princes Court we moved!

Drama continued as both the top 2 seeds were knocked out in the round of 16 with great performances from Gavin Wilson and Patrick Chitic respectively.
Gavin came undone against a very solid Stan Scott from the Philadelphia Club, whilst Patrick continued his fine form knocking out John Knox to reach the final.
The plate competition kept everyone busy and the court and club buzzing. Martin Whitmer played solid tennis to reach the plate final against Nick Potter.
The youthful, left-handed Patrick played the experienced, right-handed Stan in a good quality but ultimately one-sided final. Patrick probably improved 10 points over the weekend alone with his railroad serve at a 40 handicap level. Despite Stan’s best efforts the Hickey Cup was won by Patrick Chitic 6/0 6/0. What a prospect for the future!

Martin Whitmer beat Nick Potter 8/6 in the final of the plate competition.
