The USCTA held its annual meeting via Zoom on Saturday, June 21st. John Lumley won his first US Open title at Westwood Country Club this year, battling past Camden Riviere, who had held the singles title for twelve consecutive championships. Lumley’s victory followed his strong performance at Westwood in the prior World Championship, where Riviere won out.  Lumley came back from two sets down with his usual unflappable play, while Riviere was plagued by injury in the last set.  The match was the fifth time the two have played in open finals and marked Lumley’s first victory. by An Interested Observer The 2025 US 50s Singles and Doubles was contested at the Racquet Club of Chicago from March 21-23. We had 7 players travel to Chicago from New York, Charleston, Aiken, Westwood, Radley and Queen’s. There was also a strong field of Chicago players and there were some notable performances in the early rounds. One of those performances goes to Aiken’s Vaughan Massie, who played much better than his handicap would have suggested in pushing Westwood’s Bill Barker all the way in a 6-5 6-5 battle. The 2025 U.S. 60s and 70s National Championships took place at Aiken Tennis Club from March 7-9, bringing together top senior real tennis players from across the country. The tournament featured high-quality competition, with many closely contested matches, long days of play, and a thrilling conclusion to both singles and doubles events. Half the draw traveled from other clubs, so the tournament had a great mix of locals and visitors. One of the standout stories was newcomer Mike O’Connor, who only started playing three months ago. Beginning January 24th, the National Tennis Club hosted twelve players from clubs around the country.
