2016 Anne Boleyn Results

We had a fantastic turnout of 18 Ladies for the Anne Boleyn at the Racquet Club of Philadelphia. There were some great matches in the group stages with two going 5-all 40-game point. Helen Grassi winning all of her matches faced Kathy Pugh who was runner up in her group. Helen was too consistent and took the win 6-1 to move her to the semifinals. Topaz Terry and Mary Livingston had a close match to 3-all until Mary took control to win 6-3. Elizabeth Browning and Shelia Reilly had a close match with Browning take it 6-4. U.S. 70s – Chicago: Walsh wins Singles

We kicked off the 2016 ‘over 70 nationals’ here in Chicago today. Outside it was a balmy 55 degrees, but inside it was a perfect 72. The match was Delray Beach – Chicago Vs Newport. Although the score was 6/0 6/0, it doesn’t indicate how competitive this match was from the beginning. Tim Merrill, Chicago’s only competitive player, teamed up with crafty veteran Russell Corey; both played well in spurts but it wasn’t enough to overcome the fine team from Newport. Alex Walsh and Jonathan Pardee showed why they are one of the best teams in the land. Both used… Read the Full Story >

U.S. 60s – Van Schaack – Double Winner

We had a fantastic turnout at this year’s US Over 60’s at The Racquet Club of Philadelphia. The first round singles saw Sewall Hodges play very steady and consistent Tennis to beat Rob Carlson but he was stopped by a very strong Bruce Manson who was serving and volleying superbly. Rowan Carroll played some fantastic Tennis to beat Jules Zacher but again Bruce Manson was too steady for Rowan in the end winning 6-3,6-3 to secure his place in the final. On the other half of the draw Dick Tanfield and Greg Van Schaack were too strong for their opponents… Read the Full Story >

2016 Ladies Invitational

2016 Ladies Invitational

By Camden Riviere The top Ladies in the US descended upon Newport for the Ladies Invitational, helping us to host a great weekend of tennis. With over ten players in attendance we were treated to some high level tennis, as well as a wonderful atmosphere. Unfortunately, the first snowstorm of the season decided to put a damper on the weekend, forcing snow on to the court on Saturday, and forcing us to stop play for the day. As a precaution to the players, and to help alleviate travel home, it was decided to postpone the doubles semi-finals and finals, as… Read the Full Story >
