2018 Jimmy Knott

2018 Jimmy Knott

by Tony Hollins The Jimmy Knott Memorial Singles is the season opening event for the mid-to-upper level players. This is a great opportunity to shake off the rust and get three guaranteed competitive matches. The T&R got a well rounded draw of 14 players which produced some tight match ups even in the early rounds. A couple of the first round highlights included a 10-9 showdown which saw Thomas Pickin take down Philip Stockton, Ben Hudson defeated Shep Skiff 10-7, Andrew Roberts had a big win over Shawn Herlihy 10-7, and Jeff Horine held off a young up and coming… Read the Full Story >

Tanfield Wins 4th Invitational

Tanfield Wins 4th Invitational

2018 Fall Invitational by John Lumley We had a great field for this year’s Fall Invitational held at the Racquet Club of Philadelphia. With the first round matches underway the best match of the day was Tony Hollins vs Tom Brownlie. Brownlie, with home court advantage and playing very solid tennis, took an early lead but Hollins was able to rely on his experience to stay in the match and reach five-games-all in the first set.  Hollins, serving well, closed out the set 6-5 and went on to take the match 6-5 6-1. In the quarterfinals Josh Dodgson vs Will… Read the Full Story >

2018 Pell Cup – Final Results, Draws, Program & Photos

We were also joined by Zac Smart, Trainee Professional at Prested Hall, for the first time who played with our very own Summer Trainee, Pete Dickinson, competing in the B division.… Read the Full Story >

2018 U23, U26 National Championships

by Ivan Ronaldson What a great turnout this year. Fifteen entries, six of whom were in serious contention for gold medals in the main events. Friday’s A division matches were all nail-biters, going three sets in the singles and 9-8, 9-7, or 9-6 in the doubles. Philly’s rapidly improving Henry Smith (Henry’s handicap has dropped 20 points in the last year) beat out one of the home favorites, Noah Motz, 1-6 6-5 3-6. Erik Barker dropped the first set 5-6 to Philly’s Spencer Yager before storming back 6-1 6-2. Boston’s Ben Hudson had some trouble with Spencer Yager as well.… Read the Full Story >
