The Racquet and Tennis Club had the pleasure of once again hosting the Below Zero this fall. This year boasted the strongest draw to date, with professionals James Stout and Tim Chisholm taking part for the first time. by Tony Hollins The Moore Cup is named after John Moore, an avid lawn tennis, court tennis, and squash player. After a hiatus of some years, the NTC resurrected the event as an opportunity for the lawn tennis and court tennis players to meet and enjoy a light-hearted competition. Each doubles pair featured an experienced lawn tennis player and an experienced court tennis player. The pairs then competed in both sports. by John Lumley This year, we had a great turnout split into two divisions: over 50s and a combined age of 115 years! Both events were played off half handicap. The 50s saw Michael Gorsen and Alex Jamieson screaming through the top half of the draw to reach the final. Anders Cohen and Shawn Herlihy also played well to reach the final, playing and serving well. Cohen and Herlihy came out of the blocks quickly, taking an early lead. With a draw comprised of players from across the U.S., UK, and France and which countries featured two World Champions, it was sure to be an exciting tournament, and the weekend did not disappoint. by James Greenley Nine players competed in the 2023 Anne Boleyn Ladies’ Handicap weekend. The tournament was held at Georgian Court University on May 5-7, 2023 and included players from the Racquet Club of Philadelphia, Aiken Tennis Club and Westwood Country Club. Using a round-robin format, the players were divided into three groups. The winner of each group went on to play for the Anne Boleyn title.
