Washington 2 came out the blocks quickly, taking down the number 1 team on Philadelphia 1 8-2, but Haab & Scott tied up the match with an 8-4 win. Knox & Lago played some very steady Tennis putting Skaggs & Barr under pressure, and ended up taking the match 8-5 progressing Washington 2 to the next round. By an interested observer The 2023 US 50s Singles & Doubles were contested at the Racquet Club of Chicago from March 24 – 26. Players from three US clubs made the trip to Chicago; guests were from Newport, Boston, and Aiken joining the Chicago members vying for the titles. The tournament began on Friday with Peter Dunne edging out another local, Brad Beatty 6-4 6-1. Aiken hosted the annual Northrup Knox Doubles tournament on March 16-19,  2023. Morgan Purvis and George C. Handy, III defeated Rakesh Jasani and Jason McAlhaney.

by John Lumley We had a fantastic turnout of 21 players, ready to battle for the 2023 Noll Cup! The tournament’s second match was a battle between Tim Carroll and Dan Villiers, with Carroll taking it 6-5 in the final set. Both players were retrieving everything and had some spectacular rallies. Saturday saw the number 1 seed, Vaughan Massie, cruise to the semifinals. Charlie Lee and Pete Roessler had a great match which Lee took 6-3 in the final set. by Jacob Faulise The 2023 Greevy Cup was held on January 28-29th at the National Tennis Club, on the grounds of the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island. This year’s USCTA level championship for the 20’s handicap division displayed some extremely competitive tennis. Eder Wins 2023 Wharton Cup

Fourteen players entered the national 50-plus level Wharton Cup at Westwood in January. Nine traveling from other US clubs. All three seeds made it to the semi-finals. The tournament’s biggest upset came in the first semifinal when unseeded John Eder from Boston beat Jericho Seguin, the #1 seed from Westwood, 6/4 2/6 6/3. The other semi between Zach Pallis from Tuxedo and Westwood newcomer Nick Bakos also went to three sets. 2023 Hickey Cup Goes to Calcagno

by James Greenley The Hickey Cup was played at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ. There was a total draw of sixteen players from Washington, Philadelphia, Chicago, Boston, Tuxedo, and Newport. There was some fantastic tennis from everyone in the tournament. Libby Gephart (RCOP)played Anwaar Spence from California in the first semi-final, and Anwaar progressed into the final. For the second semi-final, Conard Calcagno (Westwood) was drawn against Brittany Wakim (RCOP). Unfortunately, Brittany had to withdraw, and Conrad had a walk over to the final. 2023 Burke Cup – “Nobody Beats The Entire Yannuzzi Family!”
