Early April in New York witnessed another National League Super Event, marking the third such gathering in as many years. This year, the event featured four teams, each comprising four players. Over three nights, twelve thrilling matches were played, complemented by a robust Pro-Am and two informative seminars hosted by the Preservation Foundation.

The event attracted nearly all U.S.-based professionals, along with three of the country’s top amateurs. The gathering of talent was truly impressive, with the top players from both the professional and amateur circuits gracing the event. Players were selected through a draft conducted during the U.S. Open by the event’s captains: John Lumley, SteveVirgona, Nick Howell, and Camden Riviere, who unfortunately had to withdraw due to injury.

One of the standout features of the new format was the randomness of the nightly partnerships. In many cases, these partnerships were the first time players had either played together or against each other, adding an element ofunpredictability to the matches. The intensity of the competition was evident, with over half of the matches requiring a third and deciding set.

The USCTA sponsored an immensely popular skills shootout, which was won by the team Winning Gallery. Spectators were captivated by the display of skills and found comfort in the camaraderie among the competitors, who shared some of the hardships they faced.

The event was streamed live by Racquet and Tennis’s Operations Manager, Jonathan Terradista, with expert commentary provided by the players and special guests. For those interested in reviewing the event, please find the links below:

Ultimately, Team Tambour, led by the replacement Captain Ben Taylor Matthews, narrowly secured the title in a historic tiebreaker against Team Dedan. Congratulations to Ben, James Stout, Noah Motz, and Adrian Kemp on their 2025 title!

The success of the event can be attributed to numerous partnerships and patron groups. Firstly, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Racquet and Tennis Club, its members, and staff, who played a pivotal role in executing the event flawlessly. The USCTA’s unwavering support and partnership with professional players have solidified the National League’s unique position on the global stage. Additionally, we appreciate the generous contributions of the National Fund contributors, who annually augment prize money for several events, this one included. Furthermore, we extend our sincere appreciation to the Preservation Foundation, which consistently provides valuable funding and sponsorship for professional events.

A special mention goes to Ted Goneos, the Tournament Chairman, who tirelessly works to enhance the event for bothplayers and spectators. Lastly, we want to express our deepest gratitude to the patrons from the club and other clubs who make the event highly desirable to the professionals involved. We eagerly anticipate seeing you all again next year!
