Westwood Country Club hosted the US 50s on the 26th-28th of April. Eight players entered the singles and doubles draws. Top seed Todd Meringoff (Boston T&R) played Bill Barker (Westwood) in one singles semifinal. Todd won the match 6/4 6/3. On the other side of the draw, Brook Hazelton (New York R&T) played John Motz (Westwood). After Brook became familiar with the court and hit some unbelievable winners on his backhand volley, he won 6/4 6/3. In the final, Todd faced Brook. There were long rests and excellent play from both players. Brook closed out the match to win 6/3 6/2.
Hazelton and Meringoff teamed up in the doubles final to play against Barker and Motz. Hazelton and Meringoff took the first set 6/1; there were long rests with fantastic retrieves from both teams. Todd and Brook kept Bill, and John dominated the service end for the entire second set and won the match 6/1 6/1 in about 35 minutes.
