Tennis Chair – Aiken Tennis Club

The Aiken Tennis Club welcomed out-of-town players and local participants this month in the U.S. 40’s USCTA age-group tournament. As well as some outstanding tennis, members, players, and guests were treated to a dinner on Saturday night and Sunday brunch. In singles semifinal play the number 1 seed Rakesh Jasani defeated Chip Marvin and in three exciting sets, Vaughn Massie prevailed over Geoff Ellis. Sunday’s final saw Jasani defeat Massie for the championship.

The doubles draw had Charlie Bostwick and Ginny Goodyear defeating Tiger Riviere and Dieter Voegele before losing to eventual winners Jasani and Ellis. They were then taken down in the subsidiary final in three sets by Dan Villiers and Peter Bender. Rakesh Jasani and Geoff Ellis defeated Thad Gray and Vaughn Massie in the final.

Thanks especially to a tournament committee that included Jim Geddes, Camden Riviere and Trey Bogue for seeding, marking and live streaming the matches. Hope everyone has a Happy New Year and a return to tournament tennis in 2022!
