We had a fantastic turnout at this year’s US Over 60’s at The Racquet Club of Philadelphia. The first round singles saw Sewall Hodges play very steady and consistent Tennis to beat Rob Carlson but he was stopped by a very strong Bruce Manson who was serving and volleying superbly. Rowan Carroll played some fantastic Tennis to beat Jules Zacher but again Bruce Manson was too steady for Rowan in the end winning 6-3,6-3 to secure his place in the final. By Camden Riviere We were treated to a wonderful weekend of junior tennis at the National Tennis Club in January for the U.S. Junior Handicap. Alongside our 6 local players, we were happy to have two traveling players (Michael Hill from Boston and Tess Browne from Washington) attend the event. With over ten players in attendance we were treated to some high level tennis, as well as a wonderful atmosphere. Twenty-six competitors representing eight U.S. clubs sought the title. The tournament has served as a notable springboard for many top players, particularly over the last few years. This year’s simplified eligibility requirements ensure that the Etchebaster remains focused on talented new players. John Saxe took an early lead with aggressive volleying and target hitting. 2015 Whitney Cup By Barney Tanfield The 82nd Whitney Cup was hosted by the Racquet and Tennis Club December 11-13th. The Whitney remains one of the true highlights in the USCTA calendar, drawing the very best players from each club in the states. Six teams consisting of ten players each competed for the title. The Aiken Tennis Club was pleased to host the 16th Annual Calhoun Witham Handicap Doubles Tournament beginning on Wednesday November 11 and concluding on Sunday November 15, 2015. The Tournament was previously known as the Aiken 30+ Handicap and was renamed the Calhoun Witham Cup following the death of A. Calhoun Witham, MD a devotee of high handicap court tennis and a beloved member of the Aiken Tennis Club. U.S. Ladies Open Results

The Tennis and Racquet Club had the honor of hosting the 2015 U.S. Ladies open.  There were a total of seventeen players in the Singles and Doubles draw. Play began on Friday with no major upsets in the preliminary round. The crowd witnessed five Singles matches and four Back Draw matches. Fredericka Adams singlehandedly and masterfully streamed the entire tournament. At the close of play everyone was invited to a gala cocktail party to honor the participants of the tournament.
