Jimmy Dunn Recap: This year’s Jimmy Dunn was another big one with 154 entrants playing in 16 different categories through Racquets, Doubles Squash, Singles Squash and Doubles Tennis. The Singles Squash was the biggest we have ever had due to the 3 new courts. The matches started Thursday at 2pm and finished Sunday at 5pm with 275 matches being played in total. Seeing the Racquet Club and the whole club being used in full capacity would make the founders proud of where the club has got to. Silver Racquet Weekend Results
2016 SILVER RACQUET by the Committee The Racquet & Tennis Club hosted The Silver Racquet November 9th-13th. In addition to 7 fully-subscribed draws in Racquets, Tennis and Squash, the weekend included the Second Leg of the World Racquets Doubles Championship, a Stag Dinner on Thursday Night for 70+ and a festive Saturday Night Dinner Dance for nearly 550. 2016 Hadden Tomes
Over the weekend of October 21st – October 23rd, The Tuxedo Club hosted the 2016 Hadden Tomes handicapped doubles tournament. Competitors and guests alike were encouraged to dress up (both on and off court) for the ever popular 1970s-themed event. The Tennis House was extremely busy all weekend with 48 players up from 46 and 42 in 2014 and 2015, respectively. This year The Tuxedo Club also simultaneously hosted the NARA national age group championships in singles and doubles: the Murray Sales Cup (40+ years of age), the Thomas Price Cup (50+) and the E. Meringoff wins Jimmy Knott Memorial Singles Tournament By Jeffrey Horine Second seeded Todd Meringoff weathered 14 sets on court on Saturday and a 4-2 first set deficit on Sunday to defeat the top seeded Brook Hazelton 6/4 6/2 in the finals of the Jimmy Knott Memorial held at Boston’s Tennis & Racquet Club in Boston from October 14-16. Lieb Cup kicks off the Season
Over the weekend of October 7-9, 2016, junior players gathered in Newport at the National Tennis Club to play in the Lieb Cup National Junior Doubles. The tournament attracted 12 players from Newport, Washington and Tuxedo. With Tim Chisholm and Camden Riviere running the event, the fun factor was high in this round-robin, developmental event. Format featured round robin-play in the initial rounds for all age groups, allowing each player to partner with every other player at some stage.
