* Updated Hickey Cup Story!

This weekend saw many tough matches and unexpected drama. Newport had many fine guests for the Hickey Cup, locals mixed with tournament tested players from Boston, Washington and Tuxedo as well. Friday evening’s cocktails were paired with the best local cheeses and sparked by unscheduled excitement that will remain indelibly ingrained in the mind’s of all who attended. * Ellis wins 2014 Noll Cup

The Racquet Club of Philadelphia was proud to host the 2014 Noll Cup for players with handicaps between 30 and 39 this past weekend. Twelve players competed over the weekend which featured a number of highly competitive matches. Dick Tanfield benefitted from a home court advantage coupled with strong serving to make his way to the final. Geoff Ellis had an epic quarterfinal match against Tom Pickin winning 6-5 in the third set. Ellis played a good semifinal against Matt Fraidin with a 6-4, 6-5 win to secure his spot in the final. * U.S. Open 2014 Report!

2014 U.S. OPEN                                     By Barney Tanfield  From January 23rd– 31st the Racquet and Tennis Club hosted the 2014 U.S. Open Championship of Court Tennis. The Arctic Vortex pulverizing New York City greeted several of the players freshly having arrived from the Australian Open where temperatures were merely 100 degrees warmer. * Tuxedo Eliminator Info: Chisholm vs. Riviere

Tuxedo will host the first leg of the eliminator series between Tim Chisholm and Camden Riviere. The match will take place on February 13. Info on the match can be found here. The second and third (if needed) will be played in Newport on February 22 & 24.
