Congratulations to Tim Chisholm and Camden Riviere on winning the 2015 World Doubles Championship. Chisholm & Riviere defeated defending champions Rob Fahey and Steve Virgona in the best of 9 sets competition. The final score was: 6-3, 6-1, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. Newport will host the 2015 U.S. Pro Singles playing for the Schochet Cup On June 7-14, 2015.
2015 Spring Invitational & Pro-Am
The Inaugural Spring Invitational and Pro-Am was hosted by the Racquet & Tennis Club May 7-10th. A fifteen-player field made up of eight professionals and seven amateurs competed for the title. On the Amateur side, the pedigree was very strong, with a multitude of both club champions and national titleholders. The Professional field was headed by World #13 John Lumley and featured Professionals from Boston, Washington, Philadelphia and New York. Seven teams entered the Pro-Am. Silver Racquet Weekend
The New York Racquet & Tennis Club hosted the 22nd annual Silver Racquet Invitational and New York Open Handicap on November 5-9, 2014. In conjunction with the court tennis, the weekend included an invitational squash doubles tournament, paired doubles racquets, under-35 handicap racquets singles, and the first annual North American Racquets Invitational. Tennis began in earnest on Wednesday evening for the three flights of NY Open Handicap draws and on Friday afternoon for the Silver Racquet Invitational. Fowler Hamilton Cup
Followers of court building projects will recognize the name Francis Hamilton. He was deeply involved with the Washington effort in the 90s, the saving of the building at Troon from threatened demolition and with the near win in Edinburgh. Fewer will know that he is a direct descendent of British General Robert Ross, who won the Battle of Bladensburg and led the burning of Washington in the War of 1812.
