The USCTPF is hosting a dinner to honor Jay & Suzie Schochet in recognition of their extraordinary leadership in support of court tennis. The dinner will be in Newport on June 7th. Invitations to all USCTA members are in the mail. If you have not received one and/or have any questions, please contact Jane Lippincott at jane.lippincott@bywoods.com.

The Aiken Tennis Club hosted a Junior Development weekend May 2-4. The local players involved were Charles Bostwick, brothers Alex and George Handy, Tristan Young, Christian Thorndike, Zach Harrington. Our out of town guests included brothers Dylan and Laurenson Ward, from Philadelphia and Colton Buffington from Cleveland. The players met at the Aiken Tennis Club on Friday evening amongst a very festive local street fair, it was the 22nd Aiken Lobster Races right outside our door, two equally as obscure sports in such close proximity. A dinner to honor Tom Greevy’s 40th year at Tuxedo will be held on May 3 in Tuxedo.
Pell Cup moves to August 21-24, 2008.
Kris Motz and Ryan Carey represented the US in the biennial team event. The matches were played in Paris.
The 2008 Cherry Blossom was a great success with over 40 (if not world class, then certainly high class) players coming from as far away as Australia and from such exotic places as Scotland! The centerpiece of this year’s tournament was a 22-inch Prince’s Court inscribed gong, which was hung in the Winning Gallery. Why settle for the dainty ring of a cow bell when you could announce your winning shot with the omnipresent sound of a 22-inch gong??
