~US 50’s & US Amateur Results

This years US Amateur Championship March 11-14 attracted a small field of players to the Aiken Tennis Club. All of those who did participate enjoyed the usual warm and gracious reception by the members of the ATC. Results of the singles competition were as follows: First round action saw local Rakish Jasani fall to Princes’ Court member Kris Motz 6/1 and 6/5. ~Motz Doubles Up The 40s!

Aiken – Camden Riviere defeated Ruaraidh Gunn in the second leg of their Eliminator. The score was 6/0,6/0,6/0. Riviere will play Steve Virgona in the Final Eliminator. That will be the best of 13 sets and will take place in Tuxedo on March 18,20 & 21. ~US Junior Nationals

While the “big guns” were pounding it out in the Tuxedo Gold racquet, 17 “future stars” descended upon Washington for the 2010 Junior National Singles. Despite piles of snow, the kids were not even interested in venturing out as their focus was totally on tennis. Ranging in age from 8-18, with some barely able to reach into the trough for balls and others towering over the adults, the juniors played through the weekend. Using a complex scoring system, each junior played numerous matches.
