THE REAL TENNIS WORLD SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIP WILL BE PLAYED AT LONDON’S QUEEN’S CLUB FROM TUESDAY 24TH to SATURDAY 28TH APRIL
- This is the oldest continuous world championship in any sport having started as far back as 1740.
- The current world champion is Camden Riviere (31) of the USA, who became the champion in 2016.
- The challenger is Rob Fahey (49) of Australia who lost his title to Riviere in 2016, having held it for 22 years.
- The match is the best of 13 sets with 4 sets on 24th, 4 sets on 26th, and as many as are needed for one player to get to 7 sets on 28th.
- Real Tennis at world championship level is the most spectacular of racquet and ball sports, being far more physical than lawn tennis.
- Fahey has fought it out with three other top ranked players to become the official challenger.
