It would be hard to imagine that the 2018 Pell Cup would be larger than last year’s event – but it exceeded it by two teams and seven more matches which added at least seven extra hours of court time!

We were very pleased to welcome Nick Wood back, coming all the way from Hampton Court Palace, UK along with his partner, Josh Smith, playing in the Open Division. We were also joined by Zac Smart, Trainee Professional at Prested Hall, for the first time who played with our very own Summer Trainee, Pete Dickinson, competing in the B division.

This Pell Cup was a great success with terrifically close and exciting matches being watched by a packed Pro-Shop and Dedans of over 60 strong.

The prize fund for the Professionals is entirely made up of donations from members and players to whom I can’t thank enough for once again being so generous.  This encourages players from all over the country (and world!) to come and play, thus making it a more competitive and exciting event.

This support is crucial in providing the top-class doubles matches which were played and enjoyed by all.  You might even find you play better after watching these matches, so keep on supporting us – your cheers go a long way on an extremely hot court.

The social programs, including a dinner with magic show, were enthusiastically received.

All in all, the 2018 Pell Cup tournament was a fitting successor in the long line of the NTC’s signature event.
